With spring now officially in season, the Pocatello team has just been itching to get out and do something fun. I’m guessing the rather tough winter has given all of us in Idaho a case of cabin fever, so I’ve rounded up a few local events that offer a great opportunity to get out and do something!
EggCited for the ASPCA Easter Egg Hunt
The ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a non-profit organization that, you guessed it, aims to protect our animal friends! Every year, the Pocatello Pet Lodge hosts an Easter egg hunt to raise funds so the ASPCA can continue the great work that they do.
You can join in on the fun Saturday, April 15, from 11am to 1pm. Hundreds of eggs stuffed with candy, dog treats, and prizes will be hidden throughout the park for your kids (and dogs) to find.
Vitaly, Master Illusionist
Who doesn’t need a little more magic in their life? Vitaly Beckman, featured on Penn and Teller’s Fool Us TV show, TED, and news organizations around the world, Vancouver’s star illusionist will be showing off his cosmic powers in Blackfoot on April 26, 2017.
Vitaly has received international acclaim for his unique approach to illusion and performance. You won’t find a copy cat here; he has designed every illusion in his show himself. You can find more information about how to see Vitaly at the Blackfoot Performing Arts center here.
Annual Urban Invasion Obstacle Challenge
If you find your average 5k for charity just isn’t challenging enough, there’s another solution other than just running even further. Your team can face others in Old Town to conquer the 20 obstacles designed by local businesses to test your mettle.
Jump, climb, or crawl through challenges like The Gauntlet, The Wall, or the Venomous Snake Pit Challenge (just kidding, I don’t have any idea what the real events are, but these sound great, right?). You can learn more about the event and register on the Poky Urban Invasion website.
Amy Grant is LEG-EN-DARY. The “Queen of Christian pop” has been continuously releasing hits since 1978, and this music icon will be blessing us with her presence next month. Amy has sold tens of millions of albums, won six Grammys, and has her own star in Hollywood. Being a little smaller than other places, we don’t get talent of this caliber that often, so don’t miss this chance to see one of music’s greats on May 18th!
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
One of the world’s most famous stories is being performed in musical-form right here in Idaho! I think I first saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on video in 1999 with Donny Osmond, but nothing can replace seeing a musical production be performed live. Joseph and his brothers are touring North America right now, and you’ll be able to catch Andrew Lloyd Weber’s interpretation of this Biblical saga starting April 18th.
