There comes a time in the life of a quilter when you just want a project to work on, but you don’t really need another quilt taking up space. And sometimes, it’s fun to make something just so you can give it away!
If this is you, we’ve got the perfect project in mind!
Memorial day will be here before we know it and any holiday is merely an excuse to go buy more fabric, right?
Gather Your Supplies
We’ve found a patriotic pattern that you can download for free, make, and then send as a care package in support of our troops!
The Flag and Heart quilt is paper pieced and made up of eight inch squares. It might be a little bit of a challenge, but it’s nothing you can’t handle!
In case you’re not familiar with the paper piecing process, I found a little tutorial that might be helpful.
This patriotic pattern is also a great way to use up your red, white, and blue fabric scraps.
Show Some Love!
Once you’re finished with this beauty, it’s time to send a care package to our troops. There are lots of ways to send a care package. Any Soldier is a great website with tons of information on what and how to send a care package.
Can you imagine what it would be like to receive a handmade quilt in the mail, when you’re far from home and loved ones, serving your country? Plus, it always feels better to give, than to receive.
